BC Bike Race, Day 5 – Sechelt to Langdale [video]

Another awesome day’s riding packed with tough pinch climbs, mind-blowing singletrack, greasy mud and high-speed spills.

Simon launched himself (without his bike) off a 5-foot gap jump on the last descent of the day. I managed to lose my shoe on the same jump. And Tim Wilkins, the young South African pinner from Tulbagh who is winning the BC Bike Race Challenge, ploughed a rock-strewn river bed with his face. He still managed to finish in front of us!

Thankfully, Simon’s girlfriend, Alex, is a trauma surgeon and stitched up the tough little bastard after the race… with ice as his only anaesthetic. Respect.
